Graham & Company is moving forward with initial redevelopment of prominent Hwy. 280 site

A prominent vacant site off of U.S. 280 will be home to a new restaurant.

Tennessee-based seafood restaurant BrickTop’s is proposed for the site, and the city of Homewood will consider tax incentives for the project, according to The Homewood Star.

As previously reported, preliminary work began on the site in September to open visibility for a development at the site located behind Office Park.

The property, owned by a partnership that includes a few Graham & Co. members, sits on a highly visible stretch of the highway for commuters who work downtown.

The report said that Graham & Co. representatives explained the project will involve a 6,500-square-foot building to seat approximately 200 guests. The cost of the project is estimated at $4 million and would include utility work and redesigning the entrance off of the highway.

Developers requested an abatement of 50 percent of the sales tax revenue for the restaurant for 10 years or up to $300,000, and they estimated that BrickTop’s revenue will be about $5 million per year.

The new restaurant would occupy about a third of the site, and could lead to more development nearby.

BrickTop’s has nine other locations, and this would be the first one in Alabama, according to its website.
